Safety First!

Okay, so it's not that I'm afraid that Laine would hurt herself playing in the sand... she and Nathan had been riding bikes and decided to switch to the sandbox.  Never mind taking off the helmets!!

The gardens

This morning we took our first trip to the Botanical Gardens since last year.  As always it was beautiful.  Ty and Maggie joined us for the morning, playing in the children's garden and having a picnic lunch.  We look forward to going again soon to see more flowers in bloom.

3 months

Mead is three months old - hard to believe time has gone by so quickly!  She is smiling and cooing a lot and is starting to reach out to grab things she sees.  She has rolled over one time, but that was a few weeks ago and we haven't seen it again.  We often see her roll up onto her side, but then she flops back down to her back.  In the process of doing this she ends up spinning herself around.  Something like a really slow breakdance, I guess!

She is always so excited to see us, as though she's amazed we are still here.  What a cutie and a joy - we're so blessed to have her in our family.

Egg Dying

We did some Easter egg dying with friends again this year.  Laine was much more aware of what to do, wanting to dye egg after egg until they were all gone.  We've been enjoying our colorful eggs as snacks since then!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!  We celebrate today the new life we have in Christ.  Praise God that He sent His Son to live, die, and rise again on our behalf.

Easter Egg Hunt

I took Laine to her first Easter egg hunt this past weekend.  It was sponsored by Vinita Park, our small community here.  As you can see in the background, the eggs were not hidden for the little kids.

Even though Laine saw the eggs on the ground, she didn't quite know what to do.  She smiled at me and walked slowly while all the other kids ran to gather eggs.  In the end we gathered three eggs together, with much coaching on my part!  She had a great time though.

And we also got a fireman's hat from the firefighters who were at the egg hunt.  She looks great, doesn't she?

Self-Soothing

Mead has discovered how to soothe herself, for which we are all thankful.  Big sister sucked her thumb, but Mead has chosen her fingers.  Who knows how these things come about!  Either way, I am glad to not be tracking down pacifiers all the time.  I know, eventually I'll have to break these self-soothing habits, but for now I'm okay with it.

Happy Haircut!

I took Laine this past weekend to get her first official haircut.  We had one too many battles over tangles, so I decided it was time to chop it off.  Here's the before shot.

We went to Cool Cuts for Kids, which is very prepared for fidgety kids and provides plenty of entertainment to help little ones sit still.

It worked like a charm!

Here's a happy face and the cute finished product.
