Pool time!

We recently invested (a whopping $10) in a baby pool for our new front yard.  Laine has loved it and spent hours in the pool already.  It keeps her content and in one place for an amazing amount of time.  And we all get to enjoy some sun and good conversation in the process!

Any little friends in the area, please come join us this summer!

Just chillin'

True to Mead's personality so far, we found her just relaxing on the floor the other day in the midst of the busyness around her.  What a sweet baby!

Seminary friends

Here are some of Penny's good buddies from seminary.  He is so thankful for these guys in his life.

And a few of their wives, with whom I am also thankful to be friends.

We'll miss you guys!

Grammy and Papa come to visit!

Penny's dad and Zandra came to see us for graduation last weekend.  We had a great time visiting, and they enjoyed meeting Mead for the first time.  Laine had a good visit too... we just didn't get a good picture of her with them.  Thanks again for making to long trip to see us!

Comparison

This picture of Mead reminded me so much of a similar one we had of Laine at this age.  What do you think?

Hair accessories galore!

Laine asked me to help put some barrettes in her hair... then she decided she wanted ALL of them to go in!

Photo shoot

Mead and I had a little photo shoot the other morning.  Here's a couple shots of her serious face...

Graduation

Graduation was last night, and it was a wonderful ceremony.

Chuck Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship, was the commencement speaker, and he spoke on "Making the Invisible Kingdom Visible."  It was a privilege to have him share with us.

Dr. Chapell awarded the diplomas, and then Penny received his hood.

I'm so proud of you Penny!

Penny's dad and Zandra were able to join us for the evening.

Let the festivities begin!

Last night was baccalaureate at the seminary, which means we had a worship service in connection with today's graduation.  The service started with the bagpipes, a Presbyterian tradition.

Penny was asked to share a short testimony reflecting on our time here at Covenant.  He did a great job and spoke about how meaningful our community has been to us.  Without the men in his life and the women in my life we would not have had nearly as wonderful a seminary experience.  Thank you, friends, for coming alongside us and joining in our joys and sorrows during these past three years!

Here's my handsome husband donning his cap and gown.  I'm so proud of you, Penny!!

I'll post more pictures as the graduation celebration continues throughout the weekend.  Enjoy!

Type A personality

Laine's personality is showing through more and more these days.  She is a bundle of energy (and then some), but she is also very particular about the way she likes things.  Just like her mom, she thinks everything needs to be just the right way... including the way her toys are organized.  Oy vey!

Rolling, rolling

Mead has learned how to roll from her back to her tummy, and she does it as much as she can.  Sometimes she gets stuck as a result, but it didn't seem to keep her from sleeping here.

Zooimagination

After hearing so many great things about Zooimagination, we finally made a trip of our own.  This free hands-on activity center at the zoo was wonderful!  Laine especially enjoyed playing with the craft scissors and the water table - probably because she doesn't get to do either of those things at home!

My little ladybugs

Laine loves ladybugs.  And she loved wearing this dress as much as she could last summer.  In fact, she asked all winter long if she could wear it to church.  So once the weather turned warm enough we brought it out of the closet again.  And this time Mead joined her with a dress to match!

Tummy time

I rolled Mead onto her belly for some tummy time, and Laine decided to join her... by laying on top of her!  What sisterly affection :-)
