Indoor riding

Chilly weather has prevented us from getting outside a lot lately.  Never fear, the kids have brought their small riding machines inside!

Mead got her new three-wheeled scooter for her birthday, and it's been perfect for her.  They have so much fun riding up and down and around the halls of our house.  So glad for indoor energy-burning activity!

Happy Birthday Mead!

Mead turned 4 years old last Sunday (the 20th).  She was so excited about her birthday, asking all month long when it was going to come.

She asked for a Rapunzel cake, which Penny made for her, castle with ramparts and all.  She eagerly watched it's arrival as we sang to her.

Yum!!  Everyone enjoyed the delicious cake.

Time to open presents!  

We love our sweet Mead and her thankful spirit.  Such a joy in our family!

Bubble monster

Somewhere along the way we picked this idea up as a fun kid activity, especially for those who love to use their mouths to discover and play with things.

Fill up a bucket with water and some dish soap, give the kids some straws, and have them start blowing. 

Soon enough, they make a "bubble monster."  Tons of fun!

Duct Tape Day

The girls' school has an annual "Duct Tape Day," where they can wear creations made out of duct tape instead of a uniform for the day.  It could be something simple like a few pieces of tape on your shirt, or it could be elaborate, like a football helmet, a shield, a purse, a hat, etc.

Penny always enjoys making fun things for the girls to wear, and this year they came up with the idea of butterfly wings and antenna.  They definitely got lots of ooh and aahs at school!

Mead wore the rainbow wings, and Laine was supposed to wear the butterfly patterned wings, but the morning of school she felt like they made her stand out too much, so she ended up not wearing them.  We'll save them for halloween or some other dress-up occasion!

Snow days

After Christmas we got a couple days of snow.  Not a lot of snow, but enough to play in.  

So everyone got all their gear on - looking nice and puffy!

And we went sledding down the big hill in front of the church.  Grammy came with us too - what fun!

Everyone tried the hill.  Some liked the climb back to the top more than others :-)

The next time it snowed, we discovered the snow was better for packing.

So we built a snow man in our front yard!

Such happiness!!

Christmas fun

We didn't get a lot of pictures over Christmas break but managed a few here and there...
