San Antonio

Here's a few more pictures from our break...

We walked along the Riverwalk downtown,

and wore the kids out!

Then we visited the Alamo and stopped for a yummy snow cone treat.

It was warm... warm enough to break out the baby pool in the back yard!

Daddy and Cole supervised the splashing fun.

Getting ready for bed was an adventure - convincing the kids to stay in bed was nearly impossible! Eventually weariness won out.

We had a great time relaxing, playing, eating, and hanging out together. Looking forward to the next time we all get together already!

Spring Break 2011

We've been busy lately, thus no posts on the blog. Part of the busyness has been traveling. Cole and I went to see some of my family in Virginia, and then a few days later the whole family went to San Antonio to see friends from seminary.

I'll post more pictures later, but here's a few to get started. We had a wonderful time visiting our dear friends, the Novaks. When we first met each other Laine was the only baby - not even a year old yet. My, how our families have grown!

Future dreams

Guess who is SO excited to take ballet one day. Laine hardly takes her leotard off these days!

And apparently it goes with everything!

On being two

Mead has been two years old for a couple months now, and I feel like we're already seeing some big differences in her. First of all, she is a lot more talkative and is becoming more and more effective in accurately communicating with us. On the other hand, when she can't get her words out quick enough she gets really frustrated.

This, and generally not getting her way, has led to many temper tantrums in the last few weeks. I remember Laine going through this phase - all-out fits of emotion that seem hard to remedy except with the passing of time. It's just interesting to see Mead go through the "terrible two's" because she is otherwise so calm and adaptable.

The other day Mead woke up with an ear infection. When I asked her what was wrong she said, "My cheeks hurt. I don't feel well." She was a little off in her anatomy, but she got close enough that I knew to call the doctor! Thankfully she's doing much better after a few doses of medication. We love you, Mead! Somehow you make even your temper tantrums sweet!!

4 months

Cole turned 4 months old at the end of February, but I didn't take him to the doctor for his check-up until today. He's doing great!

Here's his stats: 15 lb. 10 oz. (50%), 24.75 inches (22%), 43.25 cm head circumference (85%). For those keeping track, that means Cole gained about two and a half pounds in the past month. Packing on the pounds!! He is sleeping through the night from 8:00 until 6:00 (after several weeks of doing it only occasionally), for which I am very thankful.

Cole hasn't started rolling over yet - he's generally pretty content just lying on his back and looking at his activity gym or smiling sweetly at whoever is nearby. We love you, Cole!
