Pelicans at the Cards Game

The girls' school had the opportunity to sing at the Cardinals game the other night.

We got a babysitter for Cole and headed out for a late night.

Over 300 tickets were sold to our group, which made for a fun evening with a lot of friends.

During the seventh inning stretch Laine joined the rest of the school in singing, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."

The view from our seats...

A much closer look, thanks to the Jumbotron.

If you click on this picture you can see Laine at the music teacher's elbow.

Singing away!  Laine had a great time - and will be able to share a great story in years to come.

So tired

This happened the other night around 6:30 while I was reading to Laine.  She loves school, but she comes home exhausted!

Origami

We recently received some hand-me-down books from some friends, and among them was a book on origami.  It included colorful paper and detailed instructions on how to make different shapes, animals, etc.

It took Laine a few days to find the book, but once she noticed it she put Daddy to work.

He has since made many, many origami creations, but these mobiles have lasted the longest - probably because they are out of everyone's reach!

First soccer game

Laine had her first soccer game on Saturday.  They lost 0-3, but I think they had a good time anyway.  (Honestly, I'm not even sure they knew when the other team scored or what the final score was!)

Laine got to play most of the game.

She kicked the ball several times and helped with goal kicks too.

There's a definite learning curve for these girls, and it'll be fun to see how the progress as the season goes on.

Soccer

Laine is playing soccer this year - her first organized team sport ever.  So far she's only been two a few practices, but she seems to enjoy it.

She has her first game this weekend, so we'll see how it goes.  If nothing else, it gives her a chance to be outside running around with some friends.

Playing in the Rain

We have gotten a ton of rain here lately, thanks to Hurricane Isaac moving inland.

Nevertheless, the kids have been determined to play outside, sporting their raincoats and rain boots.  Cole didn't have a pair of rain boots of his own, so he borrowed his sisters - Laine's, not Mead's, since his feet are already too big for Mead's boots!

Digging in the dirt

While Laine and Mead are at school together three mornings a week, Cole and I get to hang out.  Sometimes that means running errands, sometimes going for a walk or bike ride, and sometimes it means just hanging out without any plans.

This is where Cole decided to play the other morning... digging in the dirt right next to our house.  He was perfectly content for a long time - until I had to dust him off to go pick up the girls from school!  I look forward to many more mornings together with this little guy.
