Magic House

First summer adventure: The Magic House.  Actually, I took Mead and Cole on one of the last days of school for Laine, trying to beat the crowds.  I'm sure we'll be back many times in the next couple months though.

Sandcastle Beach is all set up and ready for digging.  Who would have thought that building a "beach" in the parking lot would be so much fun!

Cole had a blast playing with the Tonka trucks and diggers.

And the ice cream cart, of course.

They had a bounce house set up to celebrate the opening of the "beach."

Final days of school

Laine and Mead finished up school last week, so summer has officially begun!

The final afternoon we went to a park to picnic and play with classmates.

Laine did a great job singing in the closing chapel that morning.

The kids will miss school - we've already been excited to see former and upcoming teachers as we've walked over to the church/school this week.  But hopefully we'll enjoy our time this summer as well.

Ornothology

We've got a nice yard that attracts a lot of birds, so we get to do a lot of bird watching.

This spring two robins built nests on the downspouts of our gutters.

Several times Laine has made bagel bird feeders at school.  Finally this one attracted a cardinal, so we got to watch it nibbling away, just outside our back door.

New glove

Cole got a hand-me-down glove the other day.

He is super excited about it, and rarely lets it out of his reach.

School pics

Don't be alarmed... it's just a toy gun.  Probably the first one Laine has ever shot!

She had a lot of fun at field day last week,

sporting her gold shirt and going along with whatever they told her to do!

And here's Mead and Mary having a good time at the Fun Run - clearly on a cooler day this spring.

They both ran at least a mile to help raise money for the school - I was totally impressed!

Cuteness

Mead is growing up so fast!  And she just looks so cute with her summer cut and adorable dresses :-)

Looks like everything is all organized - she is going to miss going to school this summer.

First Cards game of the season

We went to the Cardinals game this past weekend - first time this season for all of us.  

This picture sums up how we all felt about it.  Penny and I were glad to be there.  Cole didn't really understand what was going on.  Laine was a bit cranky at the beginning (until she used the bathroom and got a snack!).  And Mead was super excited about the game.

In the end we had a nice time - the kids enjoyed peanuts and cotton candy.  We stayed until the end of the 8th inning and saw the Cards win 3-0.

Oh, and Penny and I get to go with adult friends again this week :-)
